The Stirling Cooler was developed about 120 years ago based on the Stirling Engine invented by a pastor, Robert Stirling about 180 years ago in Scotland.

The Stirling Cooler has a long history as mentioned, but a very small quantities are currently used compared to Rankine-cycle coolers (compressors) which are now being used in many ways such as the home refrigerator.

Although the Stirling Cooler has many advantages such as light weight, low vibration, low audible noise, environmentally friendliness, why is it not popular?
The answer is that up to this point, Stirling Coolers have been used in very low temperature cryogenic applications such as satellites or the military and therefore have been very expensive. We challenged ourselves to design and produce a Stirling Cooler that is intended for consumer products which generally operate at much warmer temperatures. We have successfully mass-produced the first Stirling-cycle cooler for consumer products.

The applications for Stirling cycle cooling has a large potential to be developed by mass production. We will continue to challenge the limits to realize the maximum potential of the technology.
