The research team of the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Tokyo, which is led by Dr. Mihara, is researching on the theme named "Development of a Energy-Saving Type of Organ (Cell) Supercooling Cryopreservation Apparatus through Innovative Integration of Advanced Technology Fields". This research theme was adopted as one of the research business of industrial technology promoted by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) in the year 2009. The research had started and is going on.
In this research, Twinbird's Free-piston Stirling Cooler (FPSC) is used as the refrigerator for the Organ (Cell) Supercooling Cryopreservation Apparatus. The research is planned to last for four years hereafter. We will strive to commercialize it as soon as possible, cooperating with the team of the University of Tokyo.
